On September 26, 2025,

Dancehall Seoul hosted European Dancehall artist Marthe for a special workshop at Steppin Studio, Seoul.

Her class focused on the meaning behind each movement — not just choreography.
Marthe emphasized that Dancehall is not about imitation, but respect and self-expression.

“We are not Jamaicans.
We don’t need to act or move like them.
Respect their culture, study it,
and then find your own style within it.”

She reminded dancers to balance cultural understanding with personal identity.

Some lose the essence by chasing trends,
while others lose their authenticity by only focusing on culture.

Real growth comes from balance.

사당 스테핀 스튜디오에서 워크샵을 진행했습니다.

마테는 “댄스홀은 기술이 아니라 태도”라며
자메이카 문화를 존중하고,
그 안에서 자신만의 스타일을 찾는 법을 강조했습니다.

그녀의 수업은 많은 댄서들에게
춤의 본질과 균형의 중요성을 다시 일깨워준 시간이었습니다.
